RE-IMAGINING THE PLAYGROUND
During the 100 year anniversary of the founding of Candler Park, we are pursuing an ambitious goal...make the city's "Natural Place to Play" an even better place to play in.
Candler Park Conservancy has hired design firm Perkins + Will to develop an entirely new playscape for Candler Park. The current playground was built in 2000 and is showing the effects of two decades of entertaining children's bodies and imaginations. We are looking forward to updating this beloved space into a treasure for decades to come. It is with great excitement and a sense of legacy that we are undertaking this task.
The funds for this $750k project is coming from multiple sources and is still actively ongoing. Park Pride has generously awarded the project a $250,000 Legacy grant to kick off the fundraising and the Waterfall Foundation has contributed $50,000 for the project. The remaining funds will be raised from a variety of sources: Atlanta Parks Department, additional foundations, local business sponsorships, corporate giving, fundraising from the neighborhood, Conservancy fundraising, and participation from the users of the park. We are pursuing these sources right now, so if you want to help or know of a group that may be interested, please let us know!
If you would like to be involved with making this happen, please contact info@CandlerParkConservancy.org our committee needs your help to see this through.
We are collecting feedback from the playground project through this survey form.

Here is our most recent rendering of the proposed playground design from May 2022. This design utilizes the current playground space and creates a new hillside slide for the hill leading up to the tennis courts. This feature doubles as erosion control to help protect the hillside from further erosion. The existing swings will be re-used and repainted.
